It is the fourth-largest business group, family of record labels and one of the "big four" record companies.

EMI owns EMI Music Publishing. This is known to be the largest music publisher in the world. It has won the 'Music Week' Award for publisher of the year each year over the past 10 years. In 2009, for the first time ever, the award was shared with 'Universal Music Publishing'.
